The Carolee Schneemann Foundation (CSF) is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Carolee Schneemann (1939–2019) through the maintenance and conservation of her paintings, installations, films, and videos, and copyright management of her visual and literary works. Established by the artist in 2013, the foundation advances the understanding of Schneemann’s work through scholarship, exhibitions, and publications. The foundation is creating a residency program at Schneemann’s home in upstate New York to support artists whose work shares Schneemann’s commitment to aesthetic experimentation.

CSF is embarking on a crucial project to enhance energy efficiency in Carolee Schneemann's historic eighteenth-century farmhouse and studio. Substantial settlement resulting in significant heat loss through gaps in the window frames has prompted a comprehensive approach that involves hand-building new jambs for window openings, crafting wooden frames, and installing high-quality insulated double-pane glass for a significant improvement in energy efficiency. This initiative, funded by an FCI Catalyst Grant, aligns with CSF’s energy conservation goals while preserving the historical integrity of the property and preparing it for artist and scholar residencies. Through meticulous craftsmanship and a dedication to sustainability, CSF is not only enhancing the functionality of Schneemann's home and studio but paving the way for a more environmentally responsible future.
