Catalyst

Racing Magpie is a Lakota-centric arts and culture organization located in Rapid City, South Dakota, founded in 2015. Our mission is to center the Lakota practice of being a good relative in everything that we do and focus our work on elevating and amplifying the work that artists and culture bearers are doing already in our community. We do this through affordable studios, a Native art gallery, arts and cultural programming, innovative collaborations, and creative community space. Racing Magpie is an integral part of the revitalization of a vibrant network of Lakota and Native creativity in the region, and our space and programming continue to provide direct impact for artists and community, as well as increasing pride and awareness of Lakota and Native art.

This project will allow Racing Magpie to install fourteen Emmvee Solar E440H CM120-B solar panels and four APsystems QT2-208 inverters on top of our 5,300-square-foot building to lessen our dependence on the grid and increase our use of renewable energy. The new system will have a power rating of 6,160 W-DC and 5,366 W-AC-CEC, which will accommodate our energy usage with up to 33 percent overproduction of energy for any future growth.
