Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College) is a public institution providing comprehensive, hands-on technical education at the baccalaureate and associate degree levels. To help fulfill the mission of the college, it established the Gallery at Penn College, a 3,000-square-foot space located inside the Roger and Peggy Madigan Library in 2006. The Gallery exposes students to different types of art, encourages creative thinking, and adds to the cultural value of the community. Since 2006, the gallery has had over 54,000 visitors, and has hosted over seventy solo exhibitions and over forty group or traveling exhibitions.
The gallery maintains the Art on Campus collection which serves to enhance the physical and aesthetic campus environment and offer opportunities for personal growth, social awareness, and cultural diversity. The collection includes over 300 works of art in all media by professional artists. The gallery’s current halogen track lighting system was installed in 2006, and the existing equipment has become obsolete. FCI Catalyst funding will support implementation of an LED track lighting system which will save money and energy. The current wattage output of 50–75 watts per bulb will be reduced to 20 watts per bulb.
