Technical Assistance

Founded in 1977, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) is the nonprofit steward of the thirteen-acre San Francisco Port of Embarkation National Historic Landmark District, located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. FMCAC inspires and fosters creativity by providing a vibrant gathering place and home for thought-provoking programs, events, and organizations. FMCAC presents and hosts an ever-evolving rotation of artistic programming for over 1.2 million annual visitors, including exhibitions, performances, festivals, and educational programming. FMCAC maintains and improves over 300,000 square feet of historic buildings, including nonprofit office space and eleven different event venues.

Pier 3 is a highly valued exhibition space, community resource, and economic engine. Rehabilitation of the substructure and shed is a top priority by 2030. The Pier 3 Scoping Report identified energy-saving measures to improve Pier 3. FMCAC will use FCI Technical Assistance Grant funds to develop a holistic concept design as the next step in our planning process, including program, plan layout, structural, exterior envelope, infrastructure, event-related systems, renderings, and preliminary cost estimate. Infrastructure systems identified in the Scoping Report will be investigated and modeled to select measures to improve interior climate and energy performance.
