Implementation

The Ellis-Beauregard Foundation (EBF) provides resources and support for artists, engages with the community, and sustains the legacy of Joan Beauregard and David Ellis. The vision of the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation is to encourage, expand, and sustain the courageous and imaginative dialogue that is fundamental to the arts. An operating foundation, EBF manages a variety of programs that benefit artists, art organizations, and the general public. EBF offers one-, two-, or six-month residencies to US artists working in all disciplines. Since inception in 2017, over 110 artists have benefited from the program. In addition to the award, the artist is given a solo exhibition at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA).

This Implementation Grant will allow the Foundation to place solar photovoltaic panels on its existing building and on a new residency building that will provide live/work spaces, and the installation of grid-tied battery storage for each building. The solar panels are projected to provide sufficient electrical energy to power all utilities in the two buildings. The installation of the solar panel plus battery system is part of a new build and renovation, all aspects of which combined will be net zero on opening day in January 2025, and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability project-wide.
